我就说嘛，stay night 这样冷僻的词不看游戏fate，谁会去想呢？
我查了手头字典，都没看到关于staynight的词组解释。
个人想法是：1.stay作为vi，此时不应直接接night，应为stay at night~
2.stay作为vt，也不应该直接接night，应为stay the night
综上stay不应为动词，并且游戏全名为fate|staynight，中间有“|”隔开，所以说stay night为一整体，作为一个名词词组。所以说有些人译为“命运停驻夜”，“命运待夜临”之类的应该是不对的，他么都把stay当成动词来解释衍生。
3.stay应为名词，以名词修饰名词，stay night为一个固定短语。我曾经在一本英语杂志中看到过关于fate stay night的介绍，上面把staynight说成长夜，当成“命运长夜”来讲。而stay作名词时，为延缓过程、停留之意，可以意译为“缓慢长夜”。
至于楼上所说的守护夜之意，我没听说，不过或许是吧！
所以说对于fate stay night的理解，你可以认为是“命运长夜”，或者是“命运守夜”
